ORLANDO, Fla. – Metro Orlando’s population is growing, and many people are saying that this is because of the weather, the opportunities it offers, and the fun environment.
Based on the recent U.S. census, 60, 000 people with a growth rate of 2.5% were added to Orlando’s population in the entirety of 2015 – 2016. Orlando is identified as the 15th fastest city when it comes to population growth, and it is now number 23 among the most populated U.S. cities.
Among all Florida counties, the Orange County had the highest level of escalation. One of the biggest groups of people are those coming from other countries.
The city is composed of many people with Spanish heritage, most of them coming from Puerto Rico. Spanish culture has also contributed big time in terms of growth, market, and talent.
As an architect who builds houses for a living, Ismael Perdomo said that he receives 10 projects every day. He understands and can attest to the recent surveys about population. He also indicated that job opportunities are not hard to find in Orlando, that’s why he moved here.
Perdomo mentioned the surging number of apartment units and buildings along North Orange Avenue which became a popular destination for people who want to settle in the city.
Hector Morena, manager of local vinyl store Uncle Tony’s Donut Shoppe, shared his observation about the vast and diverse growth of Orlando. He said that even in the middle of the flourishment, the city is still looking for its own identity, and it is definitely between the modern and classic old styles.
Many people move to Florida because of its weather and amusement parks. Of course, there is Disneyland and other well-known water parks that are famous tourist attractions. However, a downside caused by Orlando’s population growth, as pointed out by some residents, is the worsening traffic situation and the rising cost when it comes to renting and owning properties.
