ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando residents are against the projected construction of a residential tower along Ivanhoe Village.
The whole stretch of Ivanhoe Village’s Orange Avenue is known for its traditional and Oriental style buildings. The avenue nestles historical treasures and memorabilia. There is a flair on the designs of the structures, seen on its forms and curves and the use of façade architecture which is obviously inspired by the Art Deco style.
There are diverse stores that offer something for every taste and style. Along the avenue, one will find art galleries, antique and vintage shops, design centers, jewelry, and retail shops. Of course, the main attraction is its restaurants and the ambiance of an outdoor dining experience along Lake Ivanhoe.
A resident shared that the hip authenticity of the area is adored and nourished by the residents and tourists, so the place holds a special place in their hearts. Moreover, another residential area is not the top priority. This is the reason why most residents are against the construction of a residential tower.
Broadstone Lakehouse, the name of the project, is a residential tower that is set to have 10 stories holding 288 residential units.
The residents’ call to disapprove the project is conveyed to the board members. The board postponed the project’s approval for at least one month. Members of the panel affirmed that the planned design for Broadstone Lakehouse is “out of place” for its surroundings.
Mark Suarez, who is the Vice Chair of the board, echoed the reason for reaching the arrangement to delay the project. He shared that the current design of the structure does not match the character and vibe of the zone. The expected schedule of the next board meeting is on April 18.
Broadstone Lakehouse’s developer, Alliance Realty Partner, argued that the project is set to boost the existing businesses for it will hold more residents in the area. They emphasized that the construction of a residential tower will match the shopping district.
