Universal Orlando to Use Virtual Lines for New Ride

ORLANDO, Fla. – “Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon,” is the new ride in Universal Orlando Resort that is making a buzz all over the place because it will offer a luxurious way of waiting in line.

Imagine comfortable couches and a musical quartet – yes, they have those in store!

Universal refers to this scheme as virtual lines. It is an extraordinary development in the queuing system where, instead of standing up, saving your spot, and staring blankly at the back of the one in front of you, you get to entertain yourself by exploring more of the resort or just lounge comfortably while viewing live entertainment.

The waiting hall for the new Jimmy Fallon ride has a number of touchscreen consoles. It notifies the visitor about his or her time slot through a mobile app. For those who do not have the app, a color will be assigned to them. The color will appear on the screens of the waiting hall to notify them about their turn to ride.

Another concept that will be a first at Universal Orlando is the “alerting wristbands.” This will be made available together with Volcano Bay, a new ride set to open soon.

These wristbands will be handed to visitors once they purchase tickets to the ride. Once their turn is up, the wristband will alert them. This just proves that methods are available to lessen impatience and boredom.

The evolution of using virtual lines proves an effort to pursue a convenient way to hold visitors without giving them the stress or headaches of long lines.

Before this scheme, Universal and Disney have already used “Fast and Express Passes.” These passes inform the visitors about the time that they should appear for their turn. The downside of this is that it requires reservations to be made ahead of time. In addition, the reservations slots are limited, and it costs an additional amount of money.

The introduction of the virtual lines scheme is surely a representation of the convenience of technology.
