Universal Orlando Set to Build More Hotels

ORLANDO, Fla. – A document filed by Universal Orlando stated that its Wet ‘n Wild attraction will be transformed into a new hotel that will hold 4,000 rooms.

Wet ‘n Wild is the first Central Florida water park, located in the corner of Universal Boulevard and International Drive. Rides including the lazy river, wave, pool surf lagoon, and the wake zone are the famous attractions at the place since its opening in 1977. It was shut down in December of 2016.

Since February, a demolition started in the old water park. Wet ‘n Wild’s 250 permanent employee were provided with another opportunity to be transferred to other attractions around Universal.

The master plan presented by Universal shows more construction development. Aside from the new hotel, it illustrates parking buildings and parking slots on three different sites. In addition, the whole stretch of a street – the Precision Drive, will be cleared and evacuated which would probably lead to a clear big space.

The public relations Vice President of Universal Orlando, Tom Schroder, stated that the draft master plan is the only information he will release; further figures will be out in the next few months.

The people behind hotel industries are expressing their interest to be involved in the new construction. Comcast Corporations aspires to build more lodging in the Universal. Meanwhile, the construction of another project called Aventura – the sixth hotel in the main resort, is underway. Another two towers are expected to rise at Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

The number of hotel rooms around Central Florida last year had increased to 2,243 rooms. This number is expected to grow more rapidly since more hotels are set to be built.

The renovation and expansion done by Universal Orlando is part of their process to cater to the growing flock of tourists. They are also making sure that they utilize the latest technology to provide new experiences for their visitors.
